A Civic Studio + Lab
Who We Are
Our Story
We are a collective of storytellers, political operatives, and creatives who sense that there’s a bigger conversation that we need to be having as we navigate our post-pandemic contexts.
We are no longer the same but we’re in a world that’s disconnected, playing small, and out of time.
We think of ourselves as a new age “Think and Do” tank that’s committed to engaging in a larger, more civic-minded conversation about what our responsibilities, motivations, and aptitudes are — beyond party politics.
We use our studio to help our client partners shape needed conversations through innovative tactics.
We use our lab to follow our own curiosities, to ask bold and pointed questions, and to test out our assumptions based on our unique perspectives and expertise.
Thinking differently isn’t an option at this point. It’s an imperative.
At this point, we're not afraid to say we don't know – we're afraid of unasked questions.

Meet Our Founder
Kristin “KT” Turner (she/her) is a thought leader and strategist aiming to rethink our political and social change storytelling.
Across industries, she is known for her work centered on creating more equity, individual agency, and overall wellbeing in the world – and for giving shape to the conversations that support that. Her perspectives generally live at the intersection of social change, civic tech, and electoral politics – with a current focus on nonpartisan political persuasion, digital storytelling, and the under-examined relationship between individual change and collective action.
Kristin is Founder & Principal at MisfitMinds Collective, a civic studio and lab reimagining our relationships to ourselves, each other, and the world around us. She previously served as the IE Program Director at EMILYs List and the National Director of Ballot Access & Voter Protection on the Warren for President campaign. Kristin is a graduate of the University of Southern California and Harvard Law School and is proudly from, and resides in, the DMV.
